Musical Projects
Where to start? Music isn't just a hobby for me, it's ingrained in my DNA. My grandparents were musicians. My grandfather played drums and guitar in a few different country and western swing bands in the 50s. My grandmother played several instruments, by ear, and could sing well enough to join more than one jam session with professional musicians in and around LA and Ventura county CA in the 50s and 60s. I grew up with guitars, mandolins, fiddles, and learning four part harmony around the dining room table almost before I could talk properly.
I started recording myself in high school, hours spent doing my favorite songs over and over until I broke the tapes and wore out several mics. I was writing my own lyrics by 16, four years of choir between junior high and high school as well as Drama.
In the late 90s I came in second in a national talent search and was invited to Nashville to record. Which I did. Unfortunately, as it sometimes goes, it was a scam. Oh I did record the songs, but it wasn't because he wanted to sign me, it was because he wanted me to record his demos for other people so he wouldn't have to pay me. Lesson learned.
Not too long after that, I met my husband and put away my dreams to raise our kids. I spent 25 years singing to and with my babies quite happily. But they are all grown now, so it's my turn again. And with the new tools that are available now, I can dust off my old notebooks and see where I go from here.
I don't have a set genre or style. I love all kinds of music. From symphonies to country swing and back again. Every era, global sounds.... if it's got a beat that moves me, I'll listen to it.
The projects listed below are just some of what I'm currently working on. Ivy Bat and Sugar Zone both have their own websites if you'd like to go check them out. My personal music is exclusively found here for now. If that changes, I'll let y'all know. Thanks for being here. I really appreciate your curiosity and support. Now... let the music play!
